We watched a video in class that was designed to encourage and help people make music videos. This short documentary gave key information to audiences wanting to make the best music videos with the equipment and skills they have. Here are the key bits of information I picked up whilst watching this documentary.
- You can do anything with the internet and software built into computers.
- A music video should have a beginning, middle, and end. - Telling a story is key.
- It should be entertaining, funny, and exciting.
- Always storyboard your ideas to break everything down and get a real understanding of what should be included.
PREPARATION
- Always thoroughly prepare, do not leave it until the last minute as this will cause unwanted stress.
- Give yourself limitations, deadlines, and budgets.
LOCATION
- It's always good to chose somewhere graphically interesting to shoot your music video - intrigues the audience.
THE SHOOT
- Use a variety of different shot types, including wide shots, mid shots, and close up shots.
POST PRODUCTION
- Put the basic story down that you can edit into and sculpt the best music video. Never leave a blank canvas continually adding, add everything and edit into it.
- Add edits
- Make sure the visuals and story work well together to achieve the most professional look.
