What have i learnt?
During this research, I have found that the vast majority of music videos use a lot of shots, a lot that go unnoticed if you are not analysing and are simply just watching. Multiple shots and small time frames within each shot set the atmosphere for the video and give the audience something that they are continually watching. I found that many music videos have simple mid shots, close ups and long shots that deliver detail and that these shots are used as a way of telling a story, as if the shots were all different the continuity would look odd. The video would not run as smooth if these shots were not added to build the narrative.
This helps me think about what I will include in my own production and take into consideration the simplistic way of using mid shots to tell a story through the music, including these factors into my own music video will ensure it runs as smooth as possible and give off a proffessional aspect.
