COSTUME 1 - This is the lip syncing character, i.e. the artist singing about his ex girlfriend and her uncontrollable feelings of not being loved. This character I feel would be best dressed in black, not only does this set the scene the footage will be filmed in, it also creates the representation of the character. This person treated his ex badly, and is represented as dark and mysterious by dressing in head to toe black. This also contrasts to the ideas that I have for the 'new man' in the girls life, creating and representing the artist as the bad one in the situation, and his feelings are dark and unreadable to an extent. As well as this, the clothing will be less sophisticated, such as wearing a hoodie instead of a shirt, this clearly shows differences in what the ex wears to what her new boyfriend wears, showing differences in personality.
COSTUME 2 - The second costume choice is designed for the 'new boyfriend' in the video. This costume will contrast hugely to the ex's clothing, this one being predominantly white, white shirt, white shoes, and faded blue jeans, as all white wouldn't look right. This person would wear a white shirt instead of t-shirt or hoodie, contrasting sophistication between the two men, representing the new guy as being better, purer, and less toxic.
COSTUME 3 - This costume is for the women in the video, the women the song is about. This costume will mostly be red. Red lipstick will be worn in every shot she is in, and red dresses, shirts, shoes, accessories, everything, red will be intertwined within the womens clothing. This is because red has connotations of love, and this women needs but rejects love. This represents her as slightly desperate and wanting to be seen by men. The red lip stands out and again represents her in a stand out, yet also vulnerable light, as scenes where she is crying shows she wears this as a mask and is broken inside.
